Redesigning Wedding Gowns
Oh, how sentimental it is to wear your mother or even your grandmother’s wedding gown! But, what if there is some aspect of the gown that you don’t care for, like puffy sleeves or an overly gathered waistline? What then?
Redesign an Heirloom Gown
Redesigning an heirloom gown is the perfect way to breathe new life into a well-loved garment. There are numerous alterations we can make to update a gown for a bride. For example:
- Sleeves can be removed to make a strapless gown.
- High lace necklines can be redesigned and made into a sweetheart neckline.
- Panels of skirting can be removed to create less bulk at the waistline.
- Lace overlays added to cover natural discoloration in some cases.
